They’d probably go after media putfile next. I wonder if people will be able to post their videos on Google Vids? I would think not, since google owns youtube, but it’s a thought…..

Now here’s another question: When all the fans do move their videos to those other sites, will Viacom go after them?

Yes, its indeed ridiculous, but…yes, we can just transfer them to putfile, livevideo, or imeem.

None of us do, but, sadly, it is within their legal rights. They won’t go so far to shut down the fansites, since that would really piss people off, but even if they did, we couldn’t sue. Technically, almost all fansites are in copyright violation, but Viacom lets them go on because they know thats where all the fans are. And I’m sure most see it as an injustice, but, sadly, their is very little we can do about it. If anyone knows of a way to contact Viacom, please, let me know, so I can post it and people can email them.

This is ridiculous. Although they believe that they are losing money off of this, they aren’t, because frankly, they still have the fansites to worry about. And if they start shutting those down, they will be seeing a lawsuit from the fans of Avatar. I just see it as injustice. All these other shows and movies have the right to get fanvids made of them, so why can’t Avatar? And why is it only Avatar? I don’t like this at all!

Yes, and for now, the only fandom’s that have really been hit are Nickelodeon ones. Danny Phantom, for example, is probably going through the same thing we are, where as fans of Teen Titans are fine, because I don’t think Cartoon Network is owned by Viacom. However, other corporations may see that Viacom had success removing videos from Youtube, and try to do it themselves. I don’t know….

Like many of the other Avatar fanvid makers at youtube, my fanvids have recently been removed as well. It’s a good thing that I still have other sites that host some of my videos. But I wonder if youtube can still recover after this? It used to be a great place to share videos and watch episodes but now, I don’t really know what will be of it. But I guess the love of fanvid-making will still live on after this…
