Roku Full Transcript

Aang is standing in a swamp, about knee-deep in water. He's surrounded by tall trees. A pillar of fire suddenly erupts as the camera zooms in on Aang.
Aang (shouting): Roku, where are you?
Aang walks forward and anoter pillar of fire erupts directly in front of him
Aang: AAAHH!
Avatar Roku emerges from the pillar. He bows his head down
Avatar Roku: Hello Aang. The camera switches point of view to show both Aang and Roku from the side
Aang: I'm sorry, Roku...I tried to master the Avatar State...but I failed.
Pillars of fire continue to erupt in the background
Avatar Roku: Mastering the Avatar state takes much spiritual discipline and patience.
The camera moves to show only Roku's face
Avatar Roku: I learned this the hard way.
Suddenly, there is a distant shot of the crescent island and Roku's dragon is seen flying toward it, presumably bearing Roku and Aang
Aang: Where are we going?
Now there is a closer shot of the island, clearly showing Roku's temple in the background as the dragon flies by in the foreground
Avatar Roku: To the Fire Sage's temple. One-hundred-fifty-four years ago...
Now Roku and Aang are standing in spirit form, aka they look ghostly blue, inside a room, where a Fire Sage and a younger Roku are sitting meditating.
Fire Sage Kaja: Concentrate on your breath...Clear your mind of all thoughts...
The camera switches to a horizontally divided split screen showing Roku and Kaja
Fire Sage Kaja: Enter the Avatar State...
At the top left of the screen, a box pops up reading "Fun Fact: Fire Sage Kaja is Fire Sage Shyu's Grandfather"
The camera now shows only Roku, from straight on
Inhale...and exhale...
With each thought, Young Roku's facial expressions more clearly shows his struggle and becomes increasingly more strained
Young Roku: ...I think my leg is falling asleep...clearing mind...I hope we're not eating komodo chicken for lunch again...ARRGGH, CONCENTRATE!
Roku stands up and the camera zooms out to show that he and Fire Sage Kaja are in the room that will one day bear his statue
I can't do it!! I've been in retreat for five months and I'm no closer to mastering the Avatar state than when I arrived!
The camera switches views, again showing the temple from a distance
Avatar Roku: But I was impatient, so I decided to use the winter solstice sun to help me...
The camera goes back inside the vault, and Roku is sitting in a meditative position where his statue will be. The sun is shining through in a beam at his feet
Aang: What are you doing?
Avatar Roku: I'm trying to enter the Avatar state using the spiritual energy from the Sun.
The camera shows the beam of light rising up to Roku's face until it reaches his eyes, causing them to glow
Aang: You did it, Roku! You mastered the Avatar State!
Avatar Roku: Well, not exactly...
The camera shows Fire Sage Kaja peering in from the doorway of the room, looking shocked
Fire Sage Kaja: Roku, what did you do?!
The camera again shows the temple from a slight distance, and suddenly, the top half of it explodes and a beam of light shoots out from the top of it toward the sky. Now we see Young Roku encased in a ball of air similar to the one Aang was in at the end of Southern Air Temple.
Avatar Roku: I was stuck in the Avatar state. I could see my body but I couldn't control it.
A volcano erupts in the background
Luckily, Fire Sage Kaja was wiser than I, and he knew how to break the Avatar State's hold on me.
Fire Sage Kaja holds up a large red stone that seems to draw light away from Roku's face. All of the sudden, the glowing stops, and Roku leaves the Avatar state
Young Roku: What happened? Roku is kneeling, and Fire Sage Kaja is standing next to him amidst the ruins of the temple
COUGH! COUGH!
Fire Sage Kaja: Looks like we have a lot more training to do...after you rebuild the temple
Roku looks up, and looks embarassed
Avatar Roku: I see my own impatience in you, Aang. Do not be too hard on yourself. You will master the Avatar State, as I finally did.
The camera changes to show Roku flying away on his dragon, leaving Aang standing on top of what's left of the temple
Look for Avatar Kyoshi in the place where Hei Bai sleeps!
Aang: ...what?
Meaningless Note: As far as the actual text of the transcript goes, it is exactly, down to the period, how the captions were for the comic (assuming I didn't mess up). Bearing that in mind, one mildly interesting inconsistency is the change in capitalization of "avatar state". Sometimes it is written "Avatar State" (both capatalized), and sometimes "Avatar state" (only Avatar is capitalized). Also, "Avatar Roku" is the older Roku, the one with Aang. "Young Roku" is the one being watched by Aang and Avatar Roku.
