The box set for book 2 of avatar was announced today by TV Shows on DVD.com. Two pictures of the DVD, which releases on September 11th, can be seen here (box art only) and here (box art with discs sticking out). This appears to roughly coincide with the probable air date of Book 3, and releases about a month after volume 4 of the individual DVD’s come out.

This DVD will also, like the first box set, contain a bonus disc of special features, in addition to all of the episodes on 4 discs. ASN is reporting that the special features on the bonus disc will have subtitles. The exact content of the bonus disc, and whether or not it only contains all the special features on the individual DVD’s (like the first box set) is yet to be revealed.

Sorry for the late notice, but the Book 2: Volume 4 DVD was announced recently, check out details here. It will be out on August 14th of this year, meaning that all the episodes of Avatar aired to date will be available on DVD before the beginning of Book 3 (most likely).

In a press release today, THQ announced the making of a new Avatar video game- Avatar: The Burning Earth. This video game will “follow the second season storyline as Aang teams up with friends to defend the greatest Earth Kingdom city against a deadly Fire Nation threat”. Is is scheduled for release this fall (specific dates will be posted when they are released) for Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, Wii, Nintendo DS and Game Boy Advance. Personally, I didn’t like the first video game much because it didn’t follow the story line of the series at all. Hopefully, this one will a little more if you go by the press release.

We heard several months ago that M Night Shyamalan had secured a deal to write three live action scripts based on Avatar. Apparently, according to this IESB Press Release, he is in the process of writing his script for Avatar, but working on his new film The Happening appears to be the priority. No word yet on a release date for the Avatar film.

Yes, it was on this day 2 years ago that Avatar, The Boy in the Iceberg first aired on Nickelodeon. Happy birthday!!

The password for the next section of the Avatar Escape game has been revealed, and it is “BOSCO”. Stand by for more passwords every Saturday morning on Nick.

We’ve been hearing about uneasy negotiations between Viacom (who owns Nickelodeon) and Youtube.com regarding the existence of illegal content on the popular video sharing site. As of today, Youtube has complied with Viacom’s demands (as outlined in this press release), but unfortunately, the “illegal content” includes fanvids. Most if not all avatar fanvids that have ever been posted on Youtube have now been removed. What this means for the future of Avatar fanvids is unclear, but people will probably just move theirs to Media Putfile.

“Avatar Escape”, an online Avatar game Nickelodeon has been working on for some time is now up and available to be played in the United States, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Germany and France. You can find it here. Each Saturday morning in the month February, from 10 AM to 12 noon (no matter what your time zone is), Nick will air cheat codes that unlock the next level in the game.
