Aang- First Seen: Chapter 1, Book 1
Read an editorial about Aang
Affiliation: Air
Personality: A fun-loving, happy go lucky 112 year old (though by now he's probably 113), who'd prefer to spend his life penguin sledding and riding hog monkeys. Aang is quick to make friends, as demonstrated not only by Katara, Sokka, Toph, and the rest of the gang, but by all the friends he talks about from before the war began. He also seems to have a knack to attract trouble, but whether this is simply because he's the avatar or it's just in his nature is the question. On occasion, he feels lonely because of all he's lost, and overwhelmed at the tremendous pressure of his responsibilities, but he usually cheers up pretty quick.
Powers: Aang is a master airbender, and a very proficient waterbender and earthbender. Once he completely finishes his training, and perhaps even already, he is the most powerful person in the world. He has the ability to journey into the Spirit World when absolutely necessary, thought it is difficult for him to do so. When his life or the life of his friends are threatened, or in other times of unusually strong distress or danger, the immensely powerful Avatar State is activated, which, for a short time, multiplies his abilities by untold amounts and gives him the power to bend all the elements regardless of whether or not he can consciously control them.
Background Info: Aang was raised in the Southern Air Temple by airbending monks. He also journeyed somewhat frequently to other places in the world, from the Fire Nation, to the Earth Kingdom city of Omashu, to the other Air temples scattered over the world. He was told he was the avatar at age 12, 4 years before the avatar is normally told, because of "troubling signs" in the world. When the other monks felt that Aang's beloved mentor and father figure, Gyatso, wasn't doing enough training and was doing to much fun stuff with Aang, they decided to seperate the two. Aang eavesdropped on this conversation and was horrified and scared at the prospect of being seperated from his long time teacher. He wrote a not explaining what he did, and tried to run away, but got swallowed into the ocean with his flying bison, Aapa. To save Aapa and himself, the Avatar State was activated and it encased Aang and Aapa in a giant iceberg, where he would remain for the next 100 years.
Aang is voiced by Zach Tyler Eisen
