Bato

Bato- First Seen: Book 1: Chapter 15
Affiliation: Water
Personality: Bato is good humored, wise, and, among other things, very mischievous. The wisdom probably wasn't there when he was a kid, but it most certainly is as an adult warrior. Bato's advice about the pain of seperation felt by himself and others caused Sokka and Katara to go back and stay with Aang, something that would have altered the entire path of the series otherwise.

Powers: In order to fight against the fire nation, Bato must be, at least to some degree, a skilled warrior, and, due to his upbringing, a very good sailor.

Background Info: Bato is the close friend of Hakoda (Sokka and Katara's father), and he got in and out of trouble with Hakoda as a prank-prone child. He left with the rest of the Southern Water Tribe men two years before Aang was unfrozen from the iceberg, to go help in the fight against the Fire Nation. He was badly wounded after around two years of fighting, and stayed behind from the other men to heal at an Earth Kingdom abbey.
