Katara

Katara- First Seen: Book 1: Chapter 1

Personality: Katara is a little bit headstrong, and very independent. She has a natural gift for waterbending to rival even Aang's, and is determined, no matter what other people think, to learn to fight for herself. The responsibilities that she was forced to bear as a young child taught her discipline, and the value of hard work, and she is probably the most mature young character in the series. However, she also has a bit of a temper, which can occasionally cause her to act rashly. Despire her responsible, mature behavior almost all of the time, she's full of surprises, such as when she steals a waterbendig scroll from a gang of pirates, and challenges a master waterbender to a duel.

Powers: Katara is a naturally gifted, and now, master waterbender. She also has rare healing abilities, which are unique to the most powerful benders of the water tribes.

Background Info: Katara is a 14 year old girl who was born in the Souther Water Tribe. Two years before she found Aang, her father and the rest of the men of her tribe left to help fight the Fire Nation. Sometime around then, or probably even before, she started trying to teach herself waterbending, as there was no other bender in the south pole to help her. When she found Aang and freed him from the iceberg he'd been imprisoned in for 100 years, she and her brother shortly ended up traveling with him in an attempt to save the world from ultimate defeat by the Fire Nation. Katara is driven partly by her desire to do what is right, and partly because the Fire Nation killed her mother.
