Book 3 Editorial

The following is a very, very, very long editorial (my only excuse for it taking so long to write!), so if you only want to read part of it, I’ve organized it into sections, about each of the following topics:

Shipping | The Invasion | The Avatar State | The Near Future of Avatar | The Characters

I thought I’d preface this with a brief explanation of its purpose. This editorial will examine, as thoroughly as is humanly possible, every tiny little thing that could happen as a result of the truly explosive Book 2 Finale. Everything from what this means for the war, to the avatar state, to shipping, will be discussed. So without further ado…

The first thing I wanted to do was talk about shipping. Not because it’s the most important thing to discuss, but to get it out of the way. Anyways, in the wake of the season finale, I think shipping needs to be temporarily set aside. The Earth Kingdom’s last stronghold has fallen, Zuko is evil, the Fire Nations knows of the invasion plan, and Aang is almost dead. Shipping has to take a back seat for the moment. I logged on to a couple of different Avatar forums after the finale aired, and was not at all suprised to find a large percentage of people fiercly debating what the finale meant for Zutara. I’m on the west coast, so I get the episode last, but still, its only a three hour delay from the east coast, yet on a single forum, over a thousand posts had already been made regarding Zutara. In all reality, this has to be addressed at some point, so now I’m gonna address it, and hopefully, won’t have to again.

Bottom line, Zutara is all but dead. From Katara’s point of view, the man who has hunted her, her brother, and her greatest friend/the world’s last hope for peace, the man who fights for the nation who took her mother from her, appears to finally have been trustworthy. Then he turns on her, and as a result, Aang almost dies, the Earth Kingdom falls, Iroh, who she was beginning to like, is captured, and it’s all because of Zuko. I’ve always been an avid believer in Zuko becoming good, but that’s gone out the window for me now. A lot of people want Zuko to redempt because he’s a big hit with the fangirls, and/or they want Zutara to happen, despite now overwhelming odds. Regardless of whether Zuko has a change of heart now, it’s too late. At some point, (and you’ll find this in many classic good vs. evil stories) no matter how you feel, you’ve gone to far, and you can’t go back. To draw a Harry Potter parallel, (SPOILER ALERT!!!) Draco Malfoy led a mission that caused Dumbledore’s death in the most recent book. I think that he can’t go back to the good side now, even if he wants to, because who would ever trust him, forgive him, accept him, after he killed the most powerful person on the good side? What Zuko did is, if anything, even worse: The last hope for victory, the invasion, is now in the dust (more on that later), Iroh is captured, the Avatar is on the run and almost dead. No one will ever trust him again, not a chance, after all of that. Much less would someone at the heart of the good side, and someone who was hurt probably the most by Zuko’s actions, fall in love with him. Not a chance. Zutara is dead, in the canon at least. That’s not to say Kataang is a definite, Haru could come back, Aang could be with someone else like Meng, but the one ship definitely killed by this is Zutara, and possibily “Zin”, the name for the Zuko/Jin ship. People maintain that Zuko could still come back, but Katara would never forgive him. And, as an unspecified user on an unspecified forum pointed out: “Katara’s reaction when Aang arrived, and she didn’t have to be alone with Zuko anymore says it all.” Is what I’ve just said a biased point of view? Most definitely, but I think it’s also logical. Either way, Zutara can (and will) live on in fanfictions, fanarts, and fanvids, regardless of what happens in the canon. If you’d like to write an explanation as to how Zutara could still happen in the canon, please send it to me via the feedback form. (View a post I made on ABN’s forum about this topic.

Whew! That’s it for shipping. Now, to move on to the good stuff. First up on the extensive list, the invasion. To look at first at its specifics, I think it has basically been cancelled. Its main planners, the Earth generals (and Katara, for that matter), are all captured, and the Da Li are now, more or less, allied with the Fire Nation. The grunt soldiers, who would carry out most of the actual fighting, might not have even known it was going to occur, I doubt they were all in the “need-to-know loop”. Even if they did know of a pending invasion of the Fire Nation, all it would take is Azula forcing Long Feng to stand up in front of them, say “Hey guys, I’m innocent, it was all a mistake. Oh, and by the way, that invasion isn’t going to work, the intelligence we based it upon was flawed. See ya!” There probably wouldn’t be any more question on the matter. However, The BoomerAANG Squad could still attempt a mini invasion, though its accomplishments would probably be limited. Here are the possibilities, as I see them, in order of most likely:

1: The squad goes in the day of the solar eclipse in an attempt to, if nothing else, defeat Ozai. Though this would undoubtedly be a great accomplishment, it would be insanely difficult now. The Fire Nation knows that the good guys know of the eclipse, and therefore, on the day of the eclipse, they will be on very high alert, just in case. The odds of Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph, and Aapa (and possibily the Earth King, who seems to be traveling with them now) successfully infiltrating a nation full of hostiles that are expecting them, reaching the palace in a single day (if they even figure out where in the Fire Nation it is), getting in to the place that the Fire Nation will most expect them to go, and successfully killing the Fire Lord, then getting away, seem pretty bad right now. And even if it could be done, it might not accomplish all that much, actually. Sure, Ozai would be did, but now Zuko appears to be right in line to take over for his father, so its not like the war will magically stop when one leader dies. And if Zuko doesn’t take over if something happened to Ozai, Azula would, and either way, the war would go on, and even the death of Ozai would have limited reprecussions on it.

2: The BoomerAANG squad manages to gain the loyalty of a small group of earthbenders, the waterbenders, and possibly Jeong Jeong and Iroh (if they manage to free him), and attempts to invade. Unlikely because it would be them versus the entire Fire Nation. Of course, that could be where Aang entering the Avatar State at will comes into play, but I think that he has given that up, his conversation with Iroh all but proved that.

3: Ba Sing Se is taken back by the BoomerAang Squad, and the invasion proceeds as planned. This could branch off into what I view as two more “sub-possibilities”, listed in order of likelyhood:

3a: Seeing Aang defeat Azula (if it happens), the Da Li, who change their loyalty with the weather, side with Aang, and the invasion proceeds as planned. However, Ba Sing Se is taken back so quickly that no one in the Fire Nation knows of the coming invasion. Therefore, Azula and Zuko are taken out (or Zuko rejoins the good side), and the good guys have the element of surprise.

3b: Ba Sing Se is taken back, but either

1: Azula and/or Zuko escapes, and warns the Fire Nation of the invasion, or

2: A message has already been sent to the Fire Nation warning them of the invasion.

Basically, in summary, the invasion proceeds as planned, but one way or another, the Fire Nation learns of it.

Next important topic: The Avatar State. A broad subject, that, (sadly), to some degree involves shipping, but I’ll try to keep it to a minimum. Ok, for starters, Aang basically has to make a choice: Katara or free passage into the Avatar State. Regardless of whether she loves him, he certainly loves her, and, based on his conversation with Iroh while they both descended into the depths of Ba Sing Se, he chose her over the Avatar state. However, seemingly in a moment, he gave her up and went into the Avatar State, but when he fell out of it, and woke up in Katara’s arms, it certainly didn’t seem like he had given her up. (By the way, did anyone notice that gaping wound on his back, that was faintly blood covered? I can’t believe they could show that and have the show still be “Y7″. I see a change to “PG” coming in the near future, if not “TV14″.) However, that raises the question, can he give up Katara for a few minutes, go into the Avatar State, then, when he’s done, come back out of it, and not have to give up Katara anymore? The whole “you must give her up” stuff would seem completely and utterly pointless if he could, but I can’t see any reason why he can’t, except one. Say, just theoretically, that Kataang happens. Aang and Katara are a couple, they’re happy, etc etc. Then, he has to go into the Avatar state. However, due to his new relationship with Katara, he can’t bear even to give her up for a few moments, and hence, can’t enter the Avatar state. It’s a weak explanation, but the best I can muster. Let me know what you think in the comments! However, moving past whether or not he can go into it, the next important thing is its power. In the Avatar State, could Aang take back Ba Sing Se? Could he, as the General from the beginning of Book 2 said, (I think his name was “Fong”) lead an invasion into the Fire Nation even without the eclipse and utterly destroy the whole nation at his will? Doubtful, that would be too easy. But its power will have some immediate benefits: The BoomerAANG Squad will be completely safe from any kind of attack, short of being ambushed by an entire army, unless said ambushers catch Aang completely unawares. Perhaps if he was sleeping, or was busy with something else. But even then, it would seem that Katara, Toph, and Sokka could hold the ambushers off for a few seconds, all Aang would need to enter the Avatar state. What all that means is that the group can basically go wherever they want or need now, except the center of the Fire Nation perhaps. What they could do with that freedom, who knows? But it probably isn’t important, because it’s doubtful at this point that Aang will give up love for power.

Moving on from the general, over arching parts of the series to the immediate future, the first thing I’d like to bring up is the aforementioned wound on Aang’s back. Possibly, Katara’s water healed it, or it was just something shown to emphasize what had happened, but I think that it could impair Aang for the first few chapters of Book 3. It could stop him from being able to train, or to fight, or do anything particularly physically active. I’m not sure what its importance will be, if any, but I just wanted to call attention to it.

Next item on the list, what will happen in Ba Sing Se. Assuming, for the purposes of discussion, that the good guys don’t re-take it, one has to wonder how the people will react. One way or another, the people in Ba Sing Se have to find out that the Fire Nation is now in control of their so called “utopia”. You just can’t keep a secret that big from such a large group of people. What I would like to see happen is to have the people of Ba Sing Se revolt, and have them take back Ba Sing Se rather than the BoomerAANG Squad. The main reason I want to see this is, thus far, we’ve seen a small group of people resisting the Fire Nation: Aang and his friends, Bumi, Haru, Master Pakku, Katara and Sokka’s dad, and a few others. What I think is important to the development of the series is to see the people of the world defeat the Fire Nation together, by being united, rather than the Avatar doing it with the help of a few friends. Because, say what you will about the army of waterbenders from the Northern Tribe, and the army of earthbenders that were going to help Aang with the invasion, all the important stuff has been done by a main character. The purpose of the Avatar is to unite the four nations, and help them live in harmony, so wouldn’t it make sense that the people of the four nations (or at least what’s left of them) would harmoniously help defeat the Fire Nation? As powerful as he and his friends are, it’s unreasonable to think that a small group of people could single handedly defeat a large, powerful, nation on the verge of world domination. I’m particularly interested to hear what people think of this theory, so please leave your thoughts in the comments.

Next, I wanted to discuss what the season finale means for each of the characters individually:
Aang: Aside from all of the Avatar spirit stuff, which I’ve already beaten to death, the main thing is where he will go next. The two most likely places that Aang will go after the season finale, are, I think, the Southern Water Tribe or back to the Eastern Air Temple. I’m leaning toward the Southern Water Tribe as far as most likely, because I don’t think Aang can learn anything more from the Guru.

Katara: Since, after the events of the season finale, the BoomerAANG Squad probably won’t want to split up again, Katara will accompany Aang wherever he goes, and I could see a couple things happening as a result. Either a Katara/Aang get together right after they go penguin sledding again (it would be a nice moment of deja-vu), or, I think, more likely, Zuko coming (again) to capture Aang. That, too, would be a nice deja-vu, and, to be fair, could possibily set up a Zutara moment. Either way, I think that the Southern Water Tribe is the next destination for Katara, and something major will happen there.

Sokka: I think the main thing that concerns Sokka is actually Suki. If she is alive, then she’ll probably join the BoomerAANG Squad. If not, Sokka will find out one way or another that the Fire Nation killed her, and, in a mad, desperate (and quite dramatic) quest for venganve, go kill a load of Fire Nation people. Just a thought. Or he could be totally emotionally crushed, and lose the will to fight on for a while.

Toph: The most important thing that the finale did for Toph was to, in a manner of speaking, set her free. I don’t think the two Earthbending masters (I forget their names) will be overly eager to come after her again, so she’s pretty much her own person, free to do whatever she wants. Equally important, apparently, she can “metal-bend” now, something that could be a valuable skill for Aang, something she could teach him.

Zuko: Assuming that Azula doesn’t intend to betray Zuko, then he’s reclaimed what he’s sought for three years. This can be taken two ways- First, he’ll be really happy, and fight for the Fire Nation and try to further prove himself to his father. Second, the internal turmoil he’s had for three years will finally leave him, giving him a chance to finally think clearly, and go back to the good side. I don’t think this is very likely because the one thing that Zuko always seems to care about most is what his father thinks of him. But I could still see it either way. However, if one were to assume that Azula does intend to betray Zuko, than that betrayal could set him finally, and irreversibly on the path of good. Or it could land him a prisoner of the Fire Nation. (Recall “Why would father want you home, except to lock you away where you can no longer embarass him?)

Iroh: Last we see of Iroh, he is taken prisoner by Azula. Once again, this leads to two possible scenarios- First, (and, sadly, I think more likely), he is killed by the Fire Nation, and his execution is what ends up reverting Zuko to the good side. Second, he escapes, and then continues to do his best to fight the Fire Nation. I think this is unlikely to happen for a couple of reasons. Iroh has already escaped Azula twice, I doubt she’d let it happen again. Also, real world events have to be taken into account. The voice actor who played Iroh, whose name was Mako, died recently, and it wouldn’t be the first time that the makers of a show re-did their plot slightly when a crucial character’s actor died. Mako immortalized to thousands of Avatar fans the voice and wisdom of Iroh, and I don’t think the creators of Avatar would pick someone else to take over for him.

Azula: Azula’s role seems for the most part unchanged, and it hinges on her intentions regarding Zuko. If she intends to betray him, then she stands poised to, for all intensive military purposes, take over the Fire Nation. If she actually intends to let Zuko regain his honor, then her role does change to some degree. First, Zuko will probably re-assume the role as Avatar-Hunter-In-Chief, and finally be able to do it with all of the Fire Nation’s resources. Which will lead to Azula finding some other mission, which I can’t even hope to guess.

Long Feng: He shocked me when he simply submitted to Azula at the end of the finale, I expected him to go down fighting. That leads several possibilities open. First, Azula kills him, and his character comes to nothing. Unlikely, I think. Second, when The BoomerAANG Squad attempts to take back Ba Sing Se (if they do), then, by the “Enemy of my enemy is my friend” logic, Long Feng might be able to help them gain the Da Li’s support.

That’s the end, thank you very much for reading! As always, please leave suggestions/feedback/Opinions in the comments.

  1. Very well said. Here’s my opinions:

I’m pretty sure that the gang will end up going to the Southern Water tribe. Remember the end of Season 1? Master Pakku said that he and some other waterbenders are going to help thier sister tribe. He’ll probably be there by now, if not very close, so that will give the gang a perfect opputunity to explain all that has happened. and, more than likely, the Water Tribes will ’sign up,’ so to speak, to help invade the Fire Nation. So that way, the gang will at least have one major (and official) ally.

Now for Iroh: now that you’ve stated you’re possibilities, sadly, i have to say that i agree with you. Iroh has done enough to trouble the Fire nation and, at this point, he’s run out of scapegoats and such. And also, since his voice actor died, many things are pointing to the death of Iroh. But i doubt that they’ll show Iroh actually being killed, and when the third season begins, they’ll probably jump in to where Zuko is all depressed that his uncle is gone. maybe they’ll show a few flashbacks, but this Nick we’re talking about, they’re not going to show an actual execution on a children’s show.

At the rate Avatar is going, Nick is going have to either change the rating, or move avatar to a later time to avoid the general population (many little kids) from seeing it. they could also (it’s a slim chance, but what the heck) move avatar to TeenNick, so not as young of a audience will be veiwing it. We’ll leave all this to Nick to decide.

Suki and Sokka: if they kill Iroh, i doubt there going to kill off Suki too. If they did, they would probably at least try to be realistic and have Sokka go all downhill emotionally. But I, personally, think that would make the show too dark. And besides, Sokka’s already lost Yue, and he devastated about that, why rip away another love of his? Suki could’ve always managed to fool Azula and her two toadies, or end up severely injured to the point where they think she’s dead. The gang will probably stop to rest (unknowingly) near where Suki and her warriors were attacked, and then they’ll find Suki someway-somehow.

Also, i think that Azula betraying Zuko is highly probable. Azula’s tricked Zuko more than once, and i think she will want him, because a roadblock to her seat upon the throne, out of the way. Zuko is considered a main character, so Azule will probably lock him up, and Zuko will end up escaping. And there is ALWAYS that slim possibility that one of Azula’s toadies will get sick and tired of Azula’s opression and run away, more than likely taking Zuko with them out of pity. But where would they go from there? that’s the problem with that theory. any ideas on what would happen after that?

Sorry about the SUPER long response, but might as well get all of my ideas and comments out in one posting. thanks for reading.

  2. I think it was great that you had a long comment it helps although I’m not a member of the group

  3. Not a member of what group?

    In response to Breanna:
I agree with your statements on the Water Tribe completely, I forgot about the Pakku thing (I was typing at 4:00 in the morning :) ). As for Iroh, as far as his execution goes, they probably won’t show a knife going through him or anything. But I could see Nick showing someone preparing to do it, cutting off a few seconds before it happens, and switching to Zuko being depressed.

I don’t think, however, that Avatar will be moved to TeenNick, which, as far as I can tell, involves shows that aren’t animated, regardless of whether their content is teen. But I still think Avatar is on the path to a PG 13 rating, or the TV equivalent of it.

Suki, I think, Azula probably left to die because Azula would have liked the idea of having her suffer. But, somehow, Suki survives, what you said happens, and Ta-Da! I could easily picture that.

Hmmm…As for Azula…My thoughts would be that she doesn’t intend to betray him immediately, but how about this:
Azula sets up Zuko as next in line to be Fire Lord, makes sure her father meets an “accident”, Zuko is Fire Lord, his life is perfect, then she takes it all away from him. It would be just like Azula, to give Zuko everything he ever wanted, then snatch it away and take it herself, that would be so cruel. And to the Fire Nation, she would look like the last air of the royal bloodline who heroically won the war. At least, that’s possibly how she pictures it in her mind.
I don’t think anyone would risk running away from Azula, they’d be hunted down, and only Ty Lee and Mei are reasonably close to her. And I can’t see them running away.
Well, I guess one super long comment deserves a response in kind!

  4. yeah, Azula will probably attempt to betray Zuko like that, but some way, some how, ‘Aang and the Gang’ (catchy, isn’t it?) will be there to foil her plans (maybe not as chliched, but something like that.) And even though it’s a SLIM chance that Mei or ty Lee would end up running away, if it did happen, it would probably be Ty Lee, because she’s the one who gets insulted by Azula the most (at least I would get sick and tired of it.) It’s probably not going to happen… but it could, you never know.

  5. I still like “BoomerAANG Squad” better.
But I’d think Mei would be the more likely to run away, as she still has a thing for Zuko, as far as I can tell.

  6. I have a theory. (Yes, I think they will have to change the rating at the rate its going.) Aang’s wound didn’t necessarily heal, did it?
I think it may have been a combination of the Avatar State and Katara’s love (Still uncertain about this theory, it’s too early in the morning to think.) that brought him back.

And yeah, BoomerAANG Squad sounds nice, but I think BoomerAANG ‘Gang’ has a good ring to it, too.

  7. Responding to your first comment, yes, I think it possible that Aang’s wound didn’t heal completely, and I even considered some possibilities for that in the first draft of this editorial, I don’t know if it’s still in there anymore. Once I find the original file on Aang’s wound, I’ll post it in the comments :) Oh, and by the way, I like your name :)

  8. Yeah, the wound could prove to cause some setbacks in Aang’s training. That would be the cherry on top for Aang (sarcastically speaking), considering he still needs to master firebending, retake Ba Sing Se, AND defeat the Fire Lord and the Fire Nation. Oh, and I also think that Mei could end up running away. She’s not as afraid of Azula as Ty Lee is.

  9. And she could run off with Zuko….lol
But Aang’s injury could be more than just a setback in his training, couldn’t it? What if the group was ambushed, would Katara, Sokka, and Toph, be able to defend Aang, and now, the Earth King?

  10. *takes a deep breath* Where do I begin? I guess Zuko’s fate, just for the heck of it.
Okay then…I personally think that Azula will end up bringing Zuko to the fire nation and restoring his honor, father’s respect, blah blah blah. But, at some point, Azula will end up double-crossing him. Do I think she’ll set up a sort of, “accident” for the fire lord to fall into? No, because the fire lord is fond of her. Why destroy your allies? Anyways, Zuko will end up a captive of the fire nation, perhaps destined for execution. Now I’m at a roadblock. I doubt they would kill off Zuko like that. In fact, I’m nearly positive they wouldn’t. But how would be escape with his uncle (most likely) dead? The only thing I can think of is that the BoomerAANG Gang would rescue him, but I can’t come up with a good reason.

Anyways, now onto the avatar state debate(haha, that rhymed xD)…

From what I’ve gathered, the avatar state gone and died. Aang fell WITH the avatar state and I don’t think that fancy water was enough to restore both Aang and the avatar state. Who will tutor Aang in firebending? I just had a very unlikely revelation. What if, in exchange for teaching Aang to firebend, the BoomerAANG Gang set Zuko free? Highly unlikely, but you never know with these series.xD

Wouldn’t changing the rating be a bit sudden? Are there not already tons of young Nickelodeon viewers that watch avatar? We’ll just have to let Nick decide where to go with that.

Hmmm…Zatara is almost dead at this point. There is, albeit a very SLIM chance that it could happen, but right now Katara just hates Zuko’s living guts. Personally, I thought that for just a few moments in the season finale that Zatara might happen, but without Zuko’s hideous scar healed(I’m sure he’d look way better without it, by the way) that hope is pretty much dead too. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see, eh?

  11. Yeah, I chose the name because I have some theories and this is the only comment board on speculations I’ve seen. So I’ve been a silent speculator until now. XD!

  12. Lol, well, I’m glad you found this board.

    To muffins (another amusing name)
Though it’s true the Fire Lord is her ally, he also has power that she wants. Ozai killed his father to gain power, and it would have some nice irony if Azula did it to Ozai. Then Aang could fight Azula in the final battle, which I’ve always though would be better. I’ve never liked the idea of the big villian being someone you only meet in the last episode, I prefer to get to know him/her. And as for the Zuko thing, Azula might get the Da Li to ambush him, he manages to get away, and goes from there? I don’t know, it would be unlikely because he’s not the most accomplished firebender, but at the same time, he does have wit, and he can think on his feet.

Now about the Avatar State. I don’t think it can die, it would seem impossible to kill something like that. I mean, how can you kill a state? As for the rating, Nick could change it with the new season, and leave it up to parents to decide if they want their children watching the show. I don’t think parents would mind, shows like Naruto that kids watch are just as violent if not more than Avatar, and, realistically, it’s a cartoon, and the blood isn’t even that real looking. But Nick could face pressure from the TV Ratings Association if they don’t change it and the subtle violence continues.
As for Zutara, just ask yourself. If you were Katara, and Zuko did what he did, all throughout the series, would you ever, in your wildest, craziest, most insane nightmare, be hooked up with him? Heck no.

  13. If I were her, I’d blow his head off. Oh, never mind, she already tried to do that so many times already. Yes, Zutara is dead, we should dig a little grave.
Isn’t the Avatar State the powers from his past lives? You can’t really kill that, if it is.
I was thinking….even though this isn’t technically the shipping board…wouldn’t it be HILARIOUS to see Zuko and Aang fighting over Katara? *falls off chair laughing, then gets up and says calmly…* But soo unlikely!

  14. Unlikely, but that would indeed be very, very amusing. And, one-on-one, Aang would PWN Zuko, he’s got water, air, and earth now, all almost mastered, and Zuko’s just got some fire.

Anyways, about the Avatar State, yes, they are his past lives coming out in him. Which raises two questions:
    1. Does the Avatar State get stronger with each re-incarnation? If it is the power of the past lives of the Avatar, does it get stronger because each time an Avatar is reborn, that’s one more past Avatar’s power he can draw from? That would be interesting to know.
    2. Can you kill something that is a spirit? Can you kill pure power? Because if you can, then the Avatar State might be gone, as AirAang12 pointed out (somewhere on one of the editorials’ comments). I think, if Aang is visited by Roku or Kyoshi again, that will end the debate, because if they, his past lives, are still alive, then the power would be too.

By the way, I did film myself digging a small hole in my backyard and putting a piece of paper in it that said “Zutara” on it. I won’t put it up on Youtube, but it’ll bring me a lot of laughs when I’m older, I’m sure.

  15. Yeah, Zutara is dead. I never really thought i was alive in the first place. There were only nice and tolerable of each other for one episode, and that was definitely short-lived.

  16. And it was just Katara’s motherly instincts.
Anyways, this isn’t a shipping board, so lets move on to Book 3.
Any theories anyone thinks I didn’t bring up?

  17. Nothing that I can think of

  18. Then I did my job well :)
But what about Azula? Do you think she plans to betray Zuko?

  19. Oh, yes. You could see it in her face. Unless Zuko betrays her first, lol!
I don’t think you could kill the avatar state, because they ARE HIM. Granted in a different body, but still him. And he’s alive. Does that make sense?

  20. Yes, that does make sense.

  21. My guess is that Aang will think about the whole “you MUST let go of her” thing, and act a bit strange but not say a thing. Katara ends up alone,Zuko does I don’t know what but meets her (I’m not saying Zutara, though i do support it because it’ll be more of a possible twist). The Fire lord is defeated, Aang dies (harsh? I know)
WHAT DO SOME OF YOUN MEAN ZUTARAS DEAD!!!! IT NEVER DIED IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!! KATAANGS DEAD!!!

  22. First, I’ll respond to your question, then ask one of my own:

What we mean when we say “Zutara’s dead” basically means that Katara now hates Zuko’s living guts, and would like nothing better than to rip his heart out and throw it in a pile of ashes. That’s what we mean when we say it’s dead, and that’s how it died “in the first place”.

Now for my question. How is Kataang dead?

  23. Yeah, how exactly is Kataang dead? They both love each other, although Aang is a little more open about it.

  24. True, and thats what you mean oh, ok.Zutara still has hope, and kataang will die IF he lets go of her. Just saying.
To awnser your questions,i thought that because he can’t love people in the ‘I love you kiss me’ way or it’ll get in the way of his job.People can attack them at any moment, now that there are at least 2-3 groups on their trail. I learned this when I studied monks and stuff like Avatars, gurus. Apparently, love gets in the way, the creators are taking the religion and putting it in the show.
Plus Katara is MOTHERLY to him. My friend is motherly to me and I’m the same gender as her…..it doesn’t mean anything except that katara loves him in a BF way.She has it from her mother, since she obviously observed her mother, she got that instinct, and had to use it when her mum died.
Plus she seems to care more for Aang because he’s the Avatar and the world’s only hope for peace.
I could be wrong, but this does make sense (well to me anyway), and Katara’s the Princess Leia, and Zuko’s the Han Solo.

  25. Hey I noticed that in the show they never showed what happened to Jet. I’m guessing he might re-appear in book 3 as a new Blue Spirit, considering Zuko dropped the mask in Lake Loagi and also the fight against Long Feng in Lake Loagi might have left Jet’s face a little messed up, making him put on the mask to hide battle scars. I’m bringing up Jet because he may have a important role in the re-capture of Ba Sing Se. Just something to think about.

  26. those were some really good predictions! things are really going to change now that the fire nation will know about the aang gaang’s plan to overthrow them.

shipping. well i’ve liked kataang since the premiere of the show. just because katara acts “motherly” (how zutarians would put it) it doesn’t mean that it can’t develop into something more. they’ve stuck together through everything. it would b very disappointing and sad to c all of those special moments they had together these past 2 seasons to b kicked out the door for zutara. i really don’t think Mike and Bryan (co-creators) would do that.i wouldn’t say zutara is dead. i’m stating that there was never anything going on between them. so how can it die if nothing was ever started?? In my eyes kataang is the most likely ship to happen.

  27. I have a few points to make.

Aang letting go of Katara. This was only meant in the since that he not let his love for her rule him. The point of learning to control the Avatar state was because he was controlled by his emotions in that state. So he will still feel the emotions but he will be able to control them. This will make it less likely to be used as a weapon against him.

I don’t know about Iroh but I think he will be brought back. He is also a leader in a secret group. Maybe they get him out. He could be the one to teach Aang fire bending.
He’s a wise man with a lot of connections he’ll be back. I hope.

I agree that Azula will betray Zuko not right now. Zuko needs Azula in order to get back his honor. Azula knows this and could make Zuko do just about anything she wants.

As to where they all go I think they will stay in the Earth kingdom at first. They will probably try to get the king somewhere safe and try to raise another army. They might even try to get Bumi to make his move. Then I agree its back to the Southern water tribe.

Well those are my thoughts tell me what you think.

  28. Bumi…..Yeah, Bumi was showing neutral jing, and, as an insane genius, he would probably be a great and powerful ally, that will show up soon.
The watertribes……We-ell….I don’t think the Southern W.T. would be of much help RIGHT NOW. The men have yet to return, and they are in the Earth Kingdom, near Ba Sing se, and they don’t have a fast, ten-tonned, six-legged bison. Just ships, and that would be more ideal and safe to go around.
The Freedom Fighters………I don’t truthfully think Jet died. It just wouldn’t feel right to the story line.He has some importance I have yet to figure out…….
The Kyoshi Warriors. Sokka has had so much taken away from him, it would just break his herat. No, I think at least Suki is alive. The other Warriors, though, were probably taken and/or killed.
Haru and his prison-mates.Hmmm…would be mighty helpful. *Nods*

  29. Good points, all of yall. Haru and his village might come up, same with Bumi and Jet, and I just KNOW that Suki will come back again. Sokka’s already lost Yue, and that left a big scar on his heart, and losing Suki would be like the breaking point for him. But I do think that they’ll all return to Ba Sing Se. Oh, and Sokka and Katara’s dad, he’ll probably be warned or something by Aang and the gang, and then he and Water Tribe buddies will head back to he Southern water tribe along with Aang and the gang, considering Aang and them even want to go back to the Southern Water Tribe. It would make the most sense, the Water Tribes are like the only truly un-Fire-Nation-occupied places left.

  30. I think Bumi will attack “New Ozai” during the solar eclipse, and that after the eclipse, Sozin’s comet will come a few days later, and aang’s “army” would be in the fire nation by then.

  31. what happened to Jet
    He was so coooool
and Zuko’s coool toooooo, even better
I#m a Zutara fan but I think they arent comming together
    Is Jet really dead ?????????
    ooooo
some guys said that he was organnily killed by longshot
    not fair!!!!!!!!11

Zuko and Jet should meet again
And anyway I think that Jet wont be the next blue spirit
    what are you thinking?
I hope and really think for sure Suko will turn out good and rescue Iroh and find Jet and then they will … I dont know …. be freedom fighters
I really hope Jet is nt dead

  32. I dunno. Long Feng, DaiLee, and the rest of the Earth Kingdom ‘baddies’ sunk the place. I do wish he would come back, though. He was cool. ^^
-Has a bow and arrow, but wishing they had Longshot’s abilities with aiming-
Say this guy can sing, dance, and paint.
Another guy can just dance, but he’s so much better at it because he laerned himself and focuses on it ,not dance, paint, /and/ singing.
Maybe Aang won’t be able to Metal-bend because he is preoccupied with the other elements. Understand?

  33. There’s a lot of good speculation here. I completely agree on the topic of shipping: Zutara is dead. D-E-A-D. Katara isn’t naive anymore; she won’t trust Zuko further than she can throw him (disregarding bending).

As for the invasion… I believe that the BoomerAANG Squad (a.k.a. the Gaang) realizes that they don’t have enough power yet to take on the Fire Nation alone. They desperately need allies. I think they’ll scrounge up anyone who’s willing and able to fight.

The Avatar State… I’ve seen speculation that Azula killed Aang, and Katara’s healing brought him back to life. This makes some sense, seeing as his arrow glowed when her healing was successful, and that could be a sign of his spirit returning to his body. So, technically, he was killed in the Avatar State, and is no longer the Avatar. Then, he would probably visit the guru to find out what happened and what he could do about it. A trip to the spirit world would be likely.

Then, there’s another theory that Aang did NOT die, which you wrote about here. I think that Aang can still get into the Avatar State. It doesn’t seem logical to me that he can’t let go of his Eartly attachment to Katara and still love her. Why can’t he just love her, then clear that final chakra whenever he needs to get into the Avatar State? He’s shown himself fully capable of doing that.

I think that the Gaang may eventually go to both the Southern Water Tribe AND the Eastern Air Temple. The Air Temple could be a safe refuge, and Aang may still have questions for the guru. And there is NO way the Gaang is going to split up now, unless it’s Aang who leaves to “protect” his friends.

As for Sokka and Suki… If he ever finds her alive again, he;ll probably end up telling her all about Yue. They could never truely be together unless they were able to be one hundred percent honest with each other. Plus, it would take a load off of Sokka’s chest. But, Suki may not be alive. If not, then Sokka would be crushed. Knowing him, he would act very rashly, and would need Aang, Katara, and Toph to stabilize him.

Toph’s got it going good for now. But I don’t think she’ll be able to teach Aang to bend metal. I believe it’s an ability that is only acheivable by Toph. She has an extremely augmented sense of touch and feel because of her blindness, so she is more in tune with the earth than anyone else could hope to be.

Zuko is most likely going to be betrayed by Azula. And sadly, Iroh will probably die. That’s what will convince Zuko that he has done wrong. Even more sadly, Zuko may not be widely accpeted by the good side (except MAYBE Aang) because of what he’s done. He’d be pretty lost.

Azula is overconfident, and that’s what I think will bring her down in the end. However, she could cause some major damage before she goes down.

    Great job on the editorial!

  34. hmm… I have a theory myself about what could happen and how Zuko could be redeemed.

Say Azula’s honest in redeeming her brother,if merely for her own gains. To test his loyalty, Azula brings Iroh to Zuko so he himself can execute him. Zuko would then probably have a large inner conflict, because he wants to be back at his father’s side, but his uncle’s more of a father figure. Refusing, Zuko grabs Iroh and tries to escape, only to have Azula shoot Iroh in the back with lightning. Pissed, Zuko unleashes hell on his little sister, even redirecting her lightning. Injuring her greatly,Zuko runs away.

Before that though, the Gaang’s all resting, when someone decides to rescue Iroh. They all argue a little bit, but come up with a plan. They sneak back into Ba Sing Se, only to run into Zuko, being chased by the Dai Le. As someone said before, “The enemy of my enemy is my ally.”

Once out of harm’s way, Zuko explains what happened. The team leaves Ba Sing Se to go to… somewhere, with Zuko tagging along to teach whatever he can to Aang.

That’s about all I have…. and it’s a fresh idea that just came up,o excuse any plot holes or holes in general.

  35. I think that zutara will still go on, for example, aang cant love katara even of he wants to.
Plus! When katara got her palm read, the chick said that she will be wed to a powerful bender, not the MOST POWERFUL (aang). Also i think that zuko was betraying his sister from the begin, (of the finally) because when he went against aang he seemed to be holding back a little.

    (what I think will happen)

Zuko will find out as much information from his sister then free his uncle, then both of them will leave into the night. Meanwhile, aang still needs a fire bending teacher, then they find uncle and zuko, no one trusts zuko at all but toph tells that he’s telling the truth, sokka being sokka still wont like the idea. Later, Uncle starts to teach aang and so does zuko, katara and zuko have some talking time about there mothers… ect. Then once we get to the battle, azula will have informed the fire nation of the rade. The water tribe and earth and some fire join boomerang and they fight, zuko, angg and everyone will split right before the battle with ozai (sp?) then aang and ozai will have a dual, aang will use his avatar mode but he will get ozai very hurt, then aang will go into his normal state, and ozai and aang will both die. In the end zuko and katara come together and marries eachother bringing peace to the nations, now since the next avatar is going to be a water bender, katara’s child (a girl) will become the next avatar! Woot!
    That’s just a very short idea I have….

  36. Thank you for your comments that i finally convinced myself that Zutara is dead.

Now about the topic, it is likely Zutara to be back again. For example, on the episode “The fortune-teller,” Aunt Wu predicted that Katara will marry a powerful bender. And i know that Aang is the only POWERFUL bender in their world ’cause he is the avatar. I don’t know if you know tis but, she said that she didn’t find any love interest for him.

Now, for the season 2 finale, Aang did let go of Katara. But what if on season 3 Aang doesn’t like Katara anymore? (i’m thinking way too much huh?)
Anyway, i just hope Zutara is totally gone. (not that there my favorite, but to all of you Zutara fans out there, who says that Aang is to young for Katara? or did all of you forgot that Katara is 2 years younger than Zuko? it’s like Aang who is two years younger than katara. So what’s the difference of that? I don’t understand Zutara at all.)

Sorry if this is a long comment but, i just have to say what i think the possibilities are.

  37. Going with ‘Chels,’ that would actually a very good twist if Aang died (but make sure Ozai dies too!) A lot of people are specualting that Harry Potter will die in the final book (Oops! did I say that?) but while I hope that it DOESN’T happen, it would seem a very good and and a very intersting move (plot-wise) if the main character were to die, whatever show or book you’re thinking about. But that would SUCK, though!! Actually, I’ll just hope that I doesn’t happen, PERIOD. I’m rambling again!
Oh, and responding to the comments made by ‘Avatarfan,’ there’s nothing wrong with thinking too much! It’s actually a fairly good thing. Thank you for reading, and please respond!

  38. I really think all these ideas are likely, but we’ll just have to wait and see what happens, I know that ALL the episodes are created allready and are just waiting for their time, so there’s no turning back however it may turn out, Regretably, I have a feeling that Iroh is going to die but the fact that that would rip Zuko apart so bad it depressing, I think (AKA hoping) that Zuko is going to teach Aang, IF that does happen, I can tell you that it would be Aang’s idea to have Zuko teach him Firebending, (Very slim that Zuko would sugjest it) Katara and most defenetly Sokka would be very untrustful of Zuko, I’m not sure what Toph’s reacttion would be other then she would also be pretty ripped up IF iroh died.

As for the future weds, It could be anybody! Zuko and Katara, Zuko and Toph, I say we just leave that subject alone, Age doesn’t matter a 50 year old could marry a 22 year old and “So what?” For everybody..

  39. I don’t think Aang would sugjest it unless someone like Avatar Roku said so.

Anyway, I don’t think Iroh is going to die although it is a possablity, the most I’m hoping is that everything turns out good for all othem, Iroh, Katara, Sokka, Toph, Aang and even ZUKO! they are my favorite charaters and I’d be upset if anything bad happened to them..

  40. I hope Suki isn’t dead, I heard Jet was dead, NOOOOOOOO!!!!!! I promised myself I wouldn’t like the bad guy when I first started watching avatar.. But now, Even though Zuko doesn’t count as a bad guy compared to the other bad guys, I’m finding it hard to keep liking him. I just hope he doesn’t do anything REALLY stupid…
As for Zuko, I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I need to clear somthing up real quick:

Most people are hoping Zuko will join the BoomerAang squad beacause it puts Zuko in the clear from anything bad happening to him by the hand of Aang and co.
This could be because Aang is their favorite charater and EVERYBODY knows, when a Good-guy kills ANYONE their no longer the good guy.
Zutara is not ALLWAYS the reason for people wanting Zuko to end up in a good situation, I mean look at Zuko’s past, The only people who have ever loved him EVER in his life are his Mother and Iroh, should somthing happen to Iroh, Zuko would most deffenatley see the light, and NOT return to the dark side, weither he joins Aaang or not, if Iroh died by the hand of the Fire Nation he would Hate Azula and even his Father..

  41. Hiya,

Personally, I really don’t like Zuko. *ducks rotten tomatoes* I think he’s a self-centered, immature, lost, spoiled little boy. He’s brash, always letting down the people that care about him. What can I say, he’s like a watered-down version of Azula! He had a modestly hard childhood (nothing compared to the awefulness of Aang’s childhood) and he’s soooo tortured over it! Sometimes, I just want to reach through the screen and hit him! *sigh*

I do think he’ll change sides (again!) and help Iroh escape. I also think he’ll probably be the one that’ll defeat Azula in the final battle. AND, he’ll probably die doing it!! That’s right! I think Zuko will DIE!!! He’s such a tragic character, he was created to die!

I think that the final battle will pay it’s price in blood, and some main characters will die. I’ve read speculation that Toph would die in the final battle, and I find that one very unlikely. So, my bets are on Zuko.

  42. It would be a great ending if Katara married Zuko and Aang dies and is recarnated as their son.Oh those anyone know how Sokka becomes a Earth bender

  43. I think that when the solar eclipse happens(when the sun is behind the moon)that all the waterbenders should fight against the fire nation.Of course the waterbenders power comes from the moon so that would be the best thing to do and plus water and fire are opposite elements so the waterbenders could take the firebenders out easily.
obviously you like the water tribe best(don’t we all) so dont you think my first comment is good(please respond James.)

  44. I know how old this article is, but just for those who STILL don’t know, Iroh ’s VA is already replaced by Greg Baldwin for Season 3. He already did some parts in the recent episodes of Season 2. He had full credit in the recent School Time Shipping special video.

But who will die? I pretty much see a Toph/Iroh situation. Coincidently, since they both are friends there would mostly be an alliance between nations speech coming along if one were to either die.

I mean, a Toph and Iroh combo move. Wow.

Otherwise it will be Zuko. More likely, die for his honor. Proving to his father for the fullest.

  45. lets get this cleared up
    1. zutara will live on forever! everyone knows it! and to awnser avatar_fan the reason you don’t understand it is because you’re weird! ok look at it this way, if your girl, than would you marry a boy that’s two years younger than you? if you’re a boy…..well actually boys don’t find this desterbing, trust me my brother doesn’t find it gross either, but if you look at it as aang is 112 years old, and you still think that they will get together than that’s gross!
    2. this is my theory:
the gaang(very catchy name by the way!) will take back ba sing sa, azula will make- like they said-kill iroh but zuko won’t do it so they run, and they get away but somehow azula will hurt-not kill-iroh and zuko will get mad and do something bad and they will bump into the gaang and iroh will teach aang firebending and they will fight the fire lord ozi and aang and him will die, and zuko and katara will hook up and “alls well that ends well!”
3.have any of you noticed that toph has a thing for sokka? how many girls have liked him? let’s count 1-suki, 2-yue, 3-toph, 4-ty lee. thats 4 girls dang yo! how do you find him! atractive?!?!
4.the thing about zuko’s eye it is kind of weird, and to boot it all off he has 1 eyebrow, trust me! me and my lil’ sister looked! and me and my older sis think he looked so much better when he was younger!

  46. If anybody’s seen the web comic of Avatar Yangchen from escape from the spirit world game, then they’d know that Aang can no longer use the avatar state.
Zutara is so not happening, they respect each other… but that’s as far as they’ll get.

But… I heard that they are putting Jin somewhere in Book 3.
If you’ve seen Avatar Yangchen’s webcomic in the escape from the spiritworld game, then you’d know that Aang cannot use the Avatar state anymore.

  47. I now notice how stupid zutara was, i mean me and my bro watched it again, and I’m thinking to myself, “Why in the world did I think THAT!?!?!” I agree with steph they respect each other, and besides, Zuko tied her to a tree, so not something you do to (supposedly) someone you like! Sorry zutara fans more people are disbelieving

  48. Hmm ive got to comment on Zuko’s side of the story here.
If he really becomes Firelord (bet thats his childhood wetdream).
I’d get rid of Azula just kill her or banish her.
Second of all i think hed set Iroh free (if he isnt already dead or free yet)
And my best guess is he’ll most probably go after Aang again cus he might have the feeling of regaining his pride after capturing and possibly killing his nemesis.

and as for Zutara…i dont see that happening in this life nor the next (sorry to the loyal fans lol)

  49. I don’t think Zuko will die. Obviously I’m a fan of his, but I’m not just saying that because I’m biased. In ATLA, there are little clues hidden everywhere. Did you know that “Zuko” means “resurrect rule?” Foreshadowing, baby. =D

    Keep in mind, this is supposed to be a kids show. I don’t think Aang will die, seeing how he’s the main character and that might upset all the little kiddies. The only character I can see losing his life in all this is poor old Iroh. Lots of theories there, but I’m not going to share because I’m too dang lazy to type that much. ^^;

As far as shippings go, I support Steph. Why? Because I think it’s about time some average characters got to be in the spotlight. I think it’d be good for the spoiled little prince to fall for an earth kingdom commoner. She’s nice, pretty, and made the “angry jerk” act like a 16/17 year old boy should. Zuko seemed to really like her, too. After all, he kissed her, humiliated himself in public for her, and all that jazz. I could care less if Jin seems filler/mary-sueish…not everyone can be an amazingly unique and talented bender.

    And that’s my rant. ^_^

  50. Alright! I say we DROPO all subjects on future weds, otherwise Kataang fans will be obliteratley disappionted and start writing hate mail everywhere should Zuko and katara get together, So lets just drop that subject.

BTW someone we love is going to die, and it’s NOT going to be Sokka. The score stands at Zuko dieing, Iroh dieing or Aang dieing. Someone we love is going to die.

And sharing a secret I discovered on the DVD, One of the artists who draws Zuko said that she likes him because he acctually forms a bond with Aang and the others. *crosses fingures in hope*

  51. very nice very nice, a whole lot more mature indications than i have seen about book 3… however though, i wanna raise some points.

    - Has anyone noticed that Zuko Mai and Ty Lee have never seen each other since Azula brought them on, nor has Azula actually mentioned them to her brother?

    - Do you remember that Azulon kinda hated his younger son and scorned him for trying to Take Iroh’s place, if Iroh were to live past the end of the war wouldn’t you think that Ozai’s bloodline would be casted off and Iroh be fire lord like it was originally? Because whoever decides that stuff “fire council” or what not, dont you think that they would eventually find out that Ozai rewrote his father’s will since its pretty evident that he did kill him

-I think that the pai sho cult (not in a bad way) is gonna make another appearance, they wouldnt show that for giggles of Zuko’s karate stance when they came out…

    - How subtle Zutara may actually be you gotta hand it to Zuko, he does pay attention to the girl, he has used her moves example of them fighting after she say “trust me Zuko it wont be much of a rematch” (or something like that) and when he went to attack Azula he used the same upward arm motion, another would be the classic water whip. But if it does happen he’s gotta make it up ten fold for her after pulling that, You have to admit though, Zuko has grown increasingly powerful by making tea, which in itself is a bit fishy… and i dont think we will see the last of happy go lucky Zuko

-Azula is most likely going to turn on her brother, she hasnt burned into his mind enough all the lies she has told him, and i think, as hopefully the smarter older brother (thats pushing it with the smarter part) he is gonna prepare and actually attempt at planning, because if you remember he sucks at it.

    - I honestly think that Suki isn’t dead, i mean if its a children’s show why off any more characters, plus the three girls never said they did anything other than steal… with avatar you have to think inside and outside the box, especially on this one, Killing Suki would only make Sokka’s luck with girls equal to that of Zuko’s luck with doing the right thing… That and i think that the creators like Sokka enough to not kill off another girlfriend… either that or they just really want him with Ty Lee

    - i kinda believe that everyone is getting overly hyped up about book 3 because it may be the last…hyping yourself up will only lead to disappointment

  52. I can’t believe no one has made any mention of a possible air nomad population in hiding somewhere. It is obvious that a whole population of people would be impossible to exterminate. I mean what are the chances that all were found and eliminated. One or two airbenders or air nomads(non-airbending) survived and after 100 years, at least 3 generations are possible, and as many as five.

Therefore, I would like to add my own theory about book three. BoomerAang will uncover a small village living somewhere or even better, a small group of travelling nomads. At first he will not notice anything special about them. Eventually we will see small air bending moves from them. They came about probably from the surviving air nomads marrying some earth kingdom folks. The weak air bending is similar to for example the way Katara started out with little water bending know how. This will probably ensure also that the air nomads don’t go extinct. I think that when Aang defeats the fire lord he will go back to the small village and probably begin training new air benders.

  53. Wow so many theories!

I just have one or two and I don’t even know if they make sense.
It’s about bumi He said he will make his move in the right moment maybe he will take Omashu for Aang and the other guys to use it as op base and either retake Ba or attack the fire nation.

So as for possible allies I see Haru and some earthbenders. Some warriors from the North tribe, Hakooda squad maybe the habitants of the northern air temple and i don’t know if the small group of the desserter would attack.
I really hope Longshot and smellerbee survived the destruction of laogai lake. I know Jet’s dead but I have to say it sounds cool to picture him as the blue spirit hopefully one of the FF livin will take the mantle I hope to see the blue spirit again

I was expectin Iroh to teach Aang but if he dies i can imagine Zuko doin it.

As for the Zutara stuff I don’t really think that possible but I can be wrong no?

Suki can be dead but that would be way too mature as i picture Sokka goin nuts about it and this doesn’t make sense i know but sounds cool takin the blues spirit mantle himself and eventually gettin killed.
toph has to teach metalbendin to aang it will be useful in the finale battle

  54. I think that Iroh could die (I hope not, he is like a grandfather and i think that the gang needs it to guide them.. they are almost lost right now), but, if this happens, so he might be able to help him from the spiritual world (remember that he entered there to find his son) maybe like roku or kioshi does when aang needs help.

I am hoping that Aang and Katara fall in love completely in South Pole Tribe. Sokka having Suki (in her appearance back to the story… maybe Yue can have some role there). Zuko’s mopther can reappear and help sukko or iroh.

I dunno I have a theory for the finale, but i will paste it later.

Does any of u know if nick had released the air date for season 3?

  55. This could be not the finale indeed but maybe something can happen:

Can u imagine that in a single battle in the middle of the Fire Nations lands, Katara is hurt badly in front of Aang’s eyes and that he couldnt do anything to help her in that moment?… Everyone acts like espectators at the scene and noone helps.. The others are engaged in a ruthless battle… He starts to cry as he seems what he must love in the earth is lying uncouncious there in the ground…

Then, everyone is quiet, all the people shut up and look both of them… Aang havent had the chance to the avatar state since the last time at ba sing se, and suddenly he FINALLY explodes and let that fury, angry, and that revenge thirst taht he had supressed since a long time ago, flows…

At that very moment, all the fire benders targets him, Azula is going to hit him .. the last hit to defeat him.. he abosorbs the lightning and uses it to empower himself, and in only one hit throw her away, defeat all those firebender masters and just zuko and his father are left… Aang is blind, he has been hurt deeply, he can feel katara’s pain…
and hits so hard Ozai in a fiery battle, he hit him hard, enter his mind and disturb it and terrorize his spirit in one single shot, the physical attack was so impressive that he was almost killed… Everyone saw Aang’s hidden power and started to run in panic even zuko was terrified, standing there in front of him… Aang cannot longer control his anger, he accuses to all those FN people and responsibilizes then for what he believes kataras death.

Neither Rooku nor his master (Yiatzo i think is his name) couldnt stop him, he just desires “revenge”.

And when he was ready to launch his final attack … Ursa, who freed Iroh, and Iroh himself showed up and heal and awakes partially Katara, the only one known person capable of calming down Aang, who starts to cry after she sees what he has done. Zukko finally sees her mother and his uncle after have looking for them so many time ago, and his doubts started to show up again.

Aang hears her, see her crying and starts to realize that he was out of control. When Azula’s arrive, she realizes that his father cannot fight any longer, so when she tries to fight back, ty lee, mya, even zukkos stops her and all of them take Ozais and rain again to the FN castle.

Aang now faces 2 options, he has to decide… finish his mission at once or go and help Katara and his friends, who were captured and hurt some time ago since they went to the “damned” beach. He takes the second option, and help his friends, yelling out that Ozzai will face him again and pay all that he has done.

People around them start to react and all of them seem to be awakening or freeing themselves from a “like mind-control power” that ozzais had. When he arrives, still in avatar state, iroh tells him that the only way that he has to heal katara completely is to take her to the spirit world, where he realices that the facesteeler has taken her face. So here he starts to fight a lost battle against that spirit. Aang is tired, desperate, sad, as he wants to save his loved one. So he decided to sacrifice himself to help Katara, and let the facesteeler to take him instead of her.

The face steeler accepts and free Katara’s spirit and when the face steller is almost taking him, The moons spirit, the air monks spirits, the earth spirit, and all the spirits of those who have died due to FN attacks shows up, and led by Iroh’s spirit (who entered the spirit realm again) fought the facesteeler spirit, at that moment iroh’s son spirt shows up and ask his father to guide and teach the avatar as he did to him and help katara to return to her body again (or she coulkd be lost again), Iroh accepts.

His son and the rest to the spirits defeat the face steeler, yiatzo talks finally with aang revealing that he and his freinds sacrified themselves to let him survives and there was no need for him to blame himself of what have happened, he tells aang that he is proud of him and that he has not need to worry, cuase he has done a great job.

After that Aang went to look for to Katara spirit, and when she sees him, she hug him, and tell him that she was pretty thankfull of what he did (sacrificing himself in order to help her) and that she had a crush on him, that she loved him since the very first day that she saw him at the South Pole, but she didnt tell that to him because she was afraid of what everyone will think about it. He FINALLY takes the courage needed and tell her that he loves her too, that he was fallen in love by her since he first saw her. And then they kiss and hug tightly them. Rukko comes and teachs aang a new skill to fast travel through different avatar states and the spirt realm, connecting all the worlds together (the phisycal and the spiritual realm), and how to switch and swift between differnet avatar spirit, so he can take full use of their abilities. He says to them that he is really proud of them too, and with that fury realease shown up he achieved 2 things: 1) Show the real avatar power to ozzai and force him to flee,2) Make Ozzai to feel Pain and Fear. Iroh approaches them and Rokku asked him to do what his song said, and Iroh accept it. When they are going back to the physical realm, the moon spirit (soka’s girlfriend) ask them to give to sokka her blessing to live with Suki, who has showed a lot of courage and self-sacrificing spirit when sokka’s most needed it, and granted to aang a favor to his friend… Toph, when they retun she will be alive and she wont be blind anylonger as long as she had the headband worn.

They returned safe to the physical realm, Iroh, Katara and aang. When they wake up, they just walk to Appa with Sokka carrying Suki in his arms, Toph (who is not blind anylomger) takes Momo and Ursa join them. All of them have changed, all of them have grown up. Aanh takes Katara hand and they walk together.

This could be a very nice end or part of it for this season…

Katara and aang together, Ursa reappering, Iroh as guide and teacher of the gang, Suki and Sokka together and Toph not blind… Zukko disturbed with the situation, the mighty Ozay fearing the avatar for the very first time, Azula with her pride hurt, and the loyalty of her friends questionable, Half of the FN has reacted and Civil War is coming… and who knows a hidden air temple (with air nomads still alive) can appear…

  56. this comment is to jet is dead how do you know aang can even metalbend? yep yep yep
and second of all i think it could be a possibility that suki died i mean it would be azula-ish to either kill or leave her to suffer! and second of all i could care less anymore about shipping! i think the lovely creators will make us happy! (although my fam is still stuck on zutara (= ) and i think it’s a possibility aang will get katara i mean there is still you know problems considering the fact that he is a monk and can’t get married, but aang is really sweet. but then a gain zutara has it’s weak points. like zuko tieing katara to a tree, i mean i wouldn’t want a boy doing that to me, but then a gain zuko had HER necklace which got me thimking, how did he know it was HER necklace? hmmmmmmm……. he had to pay some attention, and i’ve already told you my little theory, and i’m only writting a long comment because i’m bored and i’m watching my lil’ sis and it is exactly 9:40 because i couldn’t go on a walk cause i have to watch my dad (i know it sounds wierd but he ust had surgery!) anyways back to avatar! and gaang is the coolest name ever

  57. Well, I understand that the situation is really hard, I hate Azula, she´s a very very bad, evil and terrific person.
I think thAT Aang will be able to join all of his friends powers (well, i think he will share chi with katara, etc) and he will be more powerful, but I think that somebody, which is an important person, will die.

Well, the most important thik is to enjoy the life. Isn’t it?

AH, I want to say everybody that i won’t give up, I will become a waterbender and i will cure my mother and mi friend, who has too many problems.

    ENJOY YOUR LIFE!!!!

  58. may i point out now that zuko turned good and said ”im going to join the avatar” ive seen sneak peeks aang finds a secret map in the western temple show ing where the airbenders went this gave aang more hope that hip ppl wer still alive at the end of the episode they head 4 some other location where the airbenders where then it showed a lady who stomped a stick that turned into a glidert and flew towards the bison the lady was like a airbender with out its tatoos

  59. I think that there has got to be some more airbenders out there. Aang is gonna find them. That’s all.
I am not with Katang…I am with Zutara. It is too cliche for Katang. Besides…what would Sokka think.
As for Sokka…he and Suki are together. No doubt about that.
Aang might end up with no one or might meet someone. Just gotta wait 4 new episodes.

  60. i think that for his betrail iroh will be exicuted by the fire lord and Zuko will be forced to watch as a punishment for his falier. this will force zuko to realise what he has done and he will beg aang to let him help him defeat the fire lord, aang will except not only his help to defeat the fire lord but also his help to learn fire bending.

as for zutara i think that katara will forgive zuko once he starts training aang, im still not ruling out kataang but i think think that katara will be able to make a decision soon, whether it is beacause aang dosnt like her any more because of the whole avatar state and giving up katara thing or mabey zuko will die in the final battle against his father.

i hope that it ends up as kataang, that way sokka and suki can be together katara and aang can be together and mabey azulas side kick you know that one that likes zuko will leave azulas side and follow zuko and then they can live happily ever after

  61. I think it should be kataang but i am a little worried at avatarspirit.net it shows a season 3 trailer with hints of the last four episodes. and one scence is aang is kissing katara but she’s rejecting. then the next scence is katara hugging zuko.   but hopefully it is aang and katara.

  62. What I tink is gonna happen is that first of all, Katara will drop her guard towards Zuko, and is gonna see him as a good friend or we all are going to see some Zutara. Though I’m for Kataang.
And what I’ve seen at the trailer on Avatarspirit.net I think Azula is totally gonna freak out because she’s losing everything she has left. May and Tai-lee are no longer her alies. So my guesses are that she’s going mad and furious. She doens’t controll her anger and everything and that’s going to be her biggest mistake because it will be her end.
Ursa is going to appear of course, maybe not till the end, but I think Zuko’s gonna search for her.
Katara probably do some bloodbending, because that’s not in the episode “The puppetmaster” for nothing. Probablly she’ll bend the Firelord to save Aang or Zuko. or something like that.

    Well that would be all
sorry for my bad English, it’s not my mother language
